The Short Version
Everything you need to know in plain English
๐ FrameGrab collects virtually no personal data. Your videos are processed 100% in your browser and never touch our servers โ because we don't have any servers processing your files.

| IP address logs | Temporary | Standard web server logs, auto-deleted |
Data We Collect
Minimal, anonymous, and non-identifiable
When you visit FrameGrab, standard web server logs may record basic technical information. This is automatic behavior of any web hosting infrastructure and includes:
- Your browser type and version (e.g. "Chrome 121 on Windows")
- Your approximate country/region based on IP address
- The pages you visit and time spent (aggregate only)
- Referring website (if you clicked a link to reach us)
This data is never linked to your identity, never sold, and is used only to understand general usage patterns (e.g., "1,200 people visited today"). IP addresses in server logs are automatically deleted within 30 days.
We do not use advertising trackers, fingerprinting scripts, or any technology designed to track you across websites.
Your Video Files
They never leave your device โ ever
๐ FrameGrab uses the Web Canvas API and browser-native video decoding. All frame extraction happens entirely within your browser's memory. No video data is sent to any server at any time.
When you select a video file:
- The file is read by your browser's local File API โ not uploaded anywhere
- Video decoding and frame rendering happen using your device's GPU/CPU
- Extracted frames exist only in your browser's memory (as canvas data URLs)
- When you close the tab or click Reset, all data is immediately cleared
- ZIP files are generated locally using JSZip โ no server communication
This architecture means FrameGrab cannot physically access your video files even if it wanted to. Your footage โ whether it's confidential corporate material, personal recordings, or proprietary content โ stays completely private.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use essentially none
FrameGrab does not set any tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. The tool may use browser localStorage for minor UI preferences (like your last-selected output format), stored entirely on your own device and never transmitted to us.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies
- No cross-site tracking cookies
- No third-party analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics)
- If we ever add analytics, we will update this policy and obtain consent first
You can clear any locally-stored preferences at any time by clearing your browser's site data for our domain.
Third-Party Services
What external services we load
FrameGrab loads a small number of external resources to function:
| Service | Purpose | Data Sent |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | Typography (Plus Jakarta Sans) | Your IP, browser type |
| JSZip (Cloudflare CDN) | ZIP file generation | Your IP (CDN request only) |
These services may log your IP address as part of standard CDN/font delivery. We have no control over their data practices; please review Google's and Cloudflare's respective privacy policies if this concerns you.
We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or any advertising SDK. We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing purposes.
GDPR & Your Rights
For users in the European Economic Area
If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have rights under GDPR. Because we collect almost no personal data, most rights are automatically satisfied โ but here they are for completeness:

- Right to Portability: We can provide any data we hold in machine-readable format.
