Privacy-First Tools for Everyone
We believe powerful tools shouldn't require you to sacrifice your privacy. FrameGrab runs entirely in your browser β we never see your video files, and we never will. That's not just a feature, it's the entire design philosophy.
Why We Built FrameGrab
It started in 2024 when a member of our team was working on a video analysis project and needed to extract frames from a batch of sensitive corporate footage. Every existing tool either required uploading to a cloud server, charged for "HD downloads", imposed limits of 50 frames per video, or all three.
The Web Canvas API had been capable of client-side video frame extraction for years β it just hadn't been packaged into a clean, free, well-designed tool. So we built one.
FrameGrab launched in mid-2024 as a side project. Within six months, it had grown to over 30,000 monthly users entirely through word of mouth. Video editors, developers, content creators, film students, animators, and photographers found it independently and kept coming back.
Today, FrameGrab is used to extract over 2.3 million frames per month β from TikTok Reels to 4K cinema footage. The only thing we've never done is charge for it, and we don't plan to.
